Herring’s creative process is as distinctive as his finished works. By combining mixed-media techniques—including collage, metal leaf and spray paint—he transforms his subjects into metaphors that challenge conventional ideas of beauty and invite us to embrace the dynamic interplay between human expression and the environment.

During his 25 year-long career, Herring has expanded his artistic reach well beyond traditional galleries. Collaborations with publications like Vogue and Vanity Fair, along with commissions from the BBC, The National Theatre, as well as projects led by creators like Guy Ritchie, have brought his work into a range of spaces including the London Underground, Bollywood film theatres and the Royal Albert Hall. His most celebrated projects—such as his standout Time Out cover for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee—have earned him a distinguished place in the London Brand Museum alongside icons like Banksy and Tracey Emin.
